Frank Denyer is unlike any other living composer. His music is fragile, sensitive and social, making sonic connections with musicians across the world. It is sound that is important to him, and sound that makes sense of the world’s people – as Bob Gilmore puts it, ‘his compositions are more concerned with what can be heard than with ideas’. In Some Sounds Are Gates, director Suhail Merchant explores Denyer’s attempt to bring music closer to life. Along with a screening of the film, Frank Denyer will take part in a Q&A session.
