Exposing the Off-Beat: A Curator Tour at John Rylands Research Institute and Library, City Centre 21 October 2016 Entrance is free

Douglas Field and Jay Jeff Jones, co-curators of Off Beat: Jeff Nuttall and the International Underground exhibition at The John Rylands Library (along with Janette Martin), know more than most about the avant-garde artistic revolution of the 1960s – and the Beat Poet movement that preceded it. Douglas Field is a senior lecturer in 20th century literature at the University of Manchester, while Jay Jeff Jones is himself a writer and editor with long associations with the underground press, including having published work by Jeff Nuttall.

This Curator Tour is an exclusive opportunity to have the curators of Off Beat share their extensive knowledge in a bespoke tour, exposing the ways in which the Beat Poets influenced the 1960s counter-culture and exploded the boundaries of poetry.

This Curator Tour is part of the programme accompanying The John Rylands Library’s Off Beat: Jeff Nuttall and the International Underground exhibition. Please note: due to adult content, this event is not suitable for under 16’s.
