Explore@RNCM returns to the college this June after a successful event last year. It’s a chance for the local community to spend a day at the college enjoying a range of musical events and activities for all ages and tastes. So often institutions can become closed off to the immediate world around them. Explore is just one of the ways in which the RNCM is becoming a more open and welcoming institution to those who live beside it.

RNCM is well known for being a world renowned music conservatoire, but one of the best parts of music making is being able to share it as a gift with other people. This afternoon of activities and joy is a way to connect musicians and the college as a building to the community surrounding it and share a common love for something whether you’re a virtuoso violinist or a weekend barbeque DJ.

They’ll be an afternoon of live music, hands-on workshops and a feast of festival favourites. Soundtracked by the RNCM’s house band, there will be outdoor entertainment, circus skills workshops, face painting, and of course lot’s of musical fun to be had. The afternoon is free to attend but ticketed. Get in there early with booking in to avoid missing out.

Explore@RNCM is just one of the standout events in RNCM’s summer programme. Alongside their large scale performance of Mahler 1 at the Bridgewater Hall in June, you can also find an eclectic and exciting collection of spotlight concerts, these are programmed and led by students and also free to attend. There’s also performances from the schools of study, showcasing the very best of the talent the college has to offer.
