Contact’s ‘In The City’ programme will conclude 2018 with an exciting festive children’s show. Written by poet, comedian and theatre-maker Jackie Hagan, The Forest of Forgotten Discos! is packed full of fun for children aged five upwards and their families and offers a pleasing alternative to the usual family Christmas theatre fare.

The Forest of Forgotten Discos! will play at the independent Grade II listed Hope Mill Theatre in Ancoats which was recently named Fringe Theatre of 2018 by The Stage.

There is a mystery afoot in the forest – it seems to be that everybody has forgotten about dancing and bright lights and disco. Even the usually reliable Alexa – the virtual assistant from the Amazon Rainforest – doesn’t know what has happened. And she normally knows the answer to everything.

This is the tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears as you have never seen it before. Meet Bear Hug, a creaky bear with a big secret, Bear Minimum, who has a really higgledy piggledy bedroom that she just can’t keep clean, and Bear Grills who struggles to keep his head cool. When Red (who is seven and scared of nothing) explodes into the forest one day the Bears’ lives are changed forever…

Exploring themes of acceptance, family and adventure, The Forest of Forgotten Discos! will feature creative integration of British Sign Language and relaxed performances. Inclusive and entertaining – this show is guaranteed to be fun for everyone, no matter what their family looks like.
