Chester Christmas Market 2017 at Chester Town Hall, 16 November — 20 December 2017 Entrance is free

Chester, with its cosy pubs and winding cobbled streets, is not only the perfect chocolate-box town, but also, perhaps one of the most festive places you could possibly head in the run up to Christmas (except maybe Lapland). And with its annual Christmas Markets opening this week, now’s the time to go.

Spanning over 70 traditional wooden chalets in the heart of Chester’s town centre, nested around a giant Christmas tree, this is the place to find more unusual gifts, from handmade jewellery and beautiful art and craft, to one-off clothing and locally produced foods, all whilst sipping on a good mug of Glühwein.

Time your visit to coincide with the market’s official opening on 16 November, and catch the town’s spectacular Christmas lights switch-on event and a parade to mark the beginning of the Yuletide countdown.

Open seven days a week (10am to 6pm on Sunday to Wednesday, 10am to 8pm on Thursdays, and 10am to 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays), from 16 November to 20 December.
