The Instituto Cervantes in Manchester is set to take part in the Benengeli 2023, an international festival to promote literature in the Spanish language.

A thrilling week of words, authors, books and literature with events stretching over five continents, Benengeli 2023 will take place at the Instituto Cervantes centres in Brussels, Los Angeles, Manila, Sydney, Tangiers, Tokyo, Toulouse, and of course, Manchester. The festival theme for 2023 tackles the concept of “epic” in literature. The best part is – you don’t need to be a Spanish speaker to enjoy them as all events are presented in English as well.

For this year’s Benengeli, the Instituto Cervantes in Manchester is hosting a discussion dedicated to epic narratives in contemporary British and Latin American fiction. Event attendees can expect to hear from authors: Rosa Ribas (El pintor de Flandes, La luna en las minas and Un asunto demasiado familiar) and Jorge Volpi (In Spite of the Dark Silence, The Peace of Tombs and In Search of Klingsor), as well as coordinator of Crime Central Rob Parker (The Watchman, Far From the Tree and And Your Enemies Closer), with the event moderated by Cervantes Professor Alexis Grohman, Senior Lecturer in Hispanic Studies at the University of Edinburgh.

Attendees can also enjoy a complimentary Spanish wine reception after the event.
