Prepare for a stunning night of performance at The Lowry when Cassa Pancho’s Ballet Black present a new dance double bill.

Now in their 22nd year, Ballet Black was formed to celebrate and promote diversity in classical ballet. Popular and always progressive, the company has a real eye for brilliance and has been producing consistently challenging, characterful, creative work for over two decades. This November, the company present Heroes, a double bill of exciting and energetic work by the award-winning choreographer Mthuthuzeli November and Franco-British artist Sophie Laplane.

In The Waiting Game, award-winning choreographer, Mthuthuzeli November contemplates the meaning of life. Created in 2020, this vibrant and compelling work explores relatable, universal themes, and is set to a dynamic and layered original soundtrack featuring the voices of Ballet Black artists.

The second part of the double bill is a new piece created by Sophie Laplane, the Franco-British artist and choreographer in residence at the Scottish Ballet. Celebratory and unique, If At First is a striking mediation on what it means to be heroic, and celebrates themes around humanity and self-acceptance.

With a repertoire that appeals to audiences of all ages, backgrounds and cultures, we love that Ballet Black always bring a vibrant, engaging and timely take on classical ballet.

Running at one hour 35 minutes (with an interval), don’t miss this brilliant performance from one of our favourite – and most admirable dance companies – when it comes to Salford this autumn.
