Lady Lever Art Gallery‘s summer exhibition focuses on women in British landscape art with the new show Another View: Landscapes by Women Artists. With landscape being a field heavily dominated by male artists throughout history, the exhibition casts a light on the women who went out and captured scenes from nature.

Another View spans a period from the 19th to the 20th century and includes around 4o works from a range of artists, from relatively unknown amateurs to recognisable names, hailed for their innovative approaches. This combination is what makes this show a fascinating offering, encompassing a rarely seen gathering of works from artists of different backgrounds and interests. You’ll find oil paintings, prints and drawings from the National Museums Liverpool collection and other institutions.

The show gives a voice to the artists themselves, revealing some insights into how women experience the natural world.
