Get ready for a family-friendly journey through the history of activism at the year-long 2025 Banner Exhibition taking place at People’s History Museum until December 2025.

Creativity and learning awaits at this brand-new exhibition which showcases a striking, colourful collection of historic and contemporary banners made by people who stood up for what they believed in. Explore powerful stories of real people fighting for change – from workers’ rights to LGBTQ+ equality and disability activism.

You’ll see banners that date back decades, like those highlighting homelessness in the 1940s or the miners’ strikes of the 1980s. Others are banners that show battles that are still being fought today. Present or past, the exhibition is a great reminder that standing up, speaking out and thinking creatively can make a difference and impact change.

The 2025 Banner Exhibition at the People’s History Museum is fun and educational  for all ages, raising questions and conversations about what’s fair, different types of activism, significant moments in our history, and how we can all make a difference. Kids – pick up your 25 Banner Bingo activity from the welcome desk and see how many symbols of protest you can spot.

Fancy a bite to eat? Grab a drink or snack from the museum’s cafe. There’s also a picnic area available for visitors bringing their own food and drink to the museum.

This family-friendly exhibition is perfect for curious minds, young and old, and is just the perfect day out for your budding activist child who wants to change the world but doesn’t quite know how.
