FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) is Liverpool’s go-to destination for art, film, and all things creatively techy. Nestled on Wood Street in the Ropewalks district, this centre blends contemporary art exhibitions, independent cinema, and interactive experiences that make you see the world a little differently.

Inside, three galleries showcase everything from emerging talent to established names, often exploring themes like artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and social justice. Many exhibitions are free to enter, so you can wander in, soak up something new, and even try your hand at interactive installations. FACT also runs a Studio/Lab programme, giving artists and young creatives space to experiment, develop their skills, and test ideas in a professional environment.

The cinema, Picturehouse at FACT, is just as exciting. It screens independent films, documentaries, foreign-language movies, and family-friendly features, often paired with talks or Q&A sessions with directors. With four screens designed for comfort and intimacy, you can enjoy a festival favourite, a hidden gem, or the latest indie hit without leaving the city.

When you need a break from all that culture, FACT has you covered. There’s a bright café on the ground floor serving coffee and lunches, and a bar upstairs for drinks before or after your film. The building itself is impossible to miss, with a striking tiled façade and bright orange entrance, and its central location puts you just steps from Bold Street’s independent shops, bars, and restaurants.

Since opening in 2003, FACT has been at the heart of Liverpool’s creative scene, offering experiences that spark the imagination and make art, film, and technology feel accessible to everyone. Whether you’re after a mind-bending exhibition, a cosy indie screening, or just a creative hangout, FACT is where it’s happening.
