FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) is the UK’s leading centre for art, film and the creative use of technology. Located in the heart of Liverpool city centre, FACT creates transformative experiences that spark the imagination and enrich lives. Home to three art galleries, four cinema screens and a Studio/Lab for artists, the centre provides platforms and opportunities for people to create, learn, experience and make sense of the world today. In 2023, FACT celebrated 20 years of groundbreaking moments and unforgettable memories shaped by over 500 artists and more than 5 million visitors.

The hub offers a dynamic program of exhibitions, workshops, and screenings that often explore contemporary themes such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and social justice. It provides opportunities for artists to experiment with new media such as through games or virtual reality and, often with an interactive element for the audience. The Studio/Lab talent and skills development programme supports artists and young people to develop their practices, test ideas and gain experience in a professional environment.

Perhaps most enticingly, FACT is home to Liverpool’s Picturehouse cinema, which screens independent films, documentaries, and foreign-language movies alongside hosting talks and Q&A sessions with directors and other film professionals. You can treat yourself to traditional cinema snacks like popcorn and ice-cream or have a drink in the first floor bar. On the ground floor, you’ll also find a bright and airy café, serving good coffee and lunches.

FACT is housed in an architecturally unique building (you won’t miss the tiled façade and bright orange entrance) with multi-use spaces designed to foster a collaborative environment for artists, technology researchers and the public. Its central Ropewalks location just behind the hubbub of Bold Street means it’s just a few steps from some of the city’s lovelies restaurants and bars too.
