Altrincham Market is famous across the North as the home to some of the region’s best street food outlets and produce vendors. It actually began life back in 1290, when Altrincham was first officially chartered as a market town. It has since become one of Manchester’s most successful markets which was given a new lease of life in the 2010s when local chap Nick Johnson, formerly of Urban Splash, and his wife Jenny took it upon themselves to revitalise it.

Fantastic vendors under the stunning Victorian roof of the covered market

To say it was a success is an understatement. The past decade has seen its star soar, and now it’s renowned across the UK as one of the nation’s finest marketplaces, both in looks and the sheer breadth and quality of traders. They brought in a range of fantastic vendors under the stunning Victorian roof of the covered market, introduced themed weekends and even expanded and rejuvenated the surrounding areas.

Nowadays, the name Altrincham is synonymous with its market and sees countless visitors each and every week, plus it’s on the receiving end of no small amount of pride from local residents. The ethos is passionately regional and fiercely independent – exactly what you want from a modern market with traditional roots. Enjoy a bite to eat from one of the many exceptional street food options then peruse the stalls to buy some locally-sourced ingredients to take home and make your own high-quality, air-mile-free meals.

A day at Altrincham Market isn’t just fun for all the family, it’s fun, full stop

But it’s not all about food, there’s also a covered area for craft purposes, plus a play area for kids. A day at Altrincham Market isn’t just fun for all the family, it’s fun, full stop, with the added bonus that you’ll invariably end up with a bunch of goodies to take home to decorate your home or vastly improve your cooking.
