Soup
Creative TouristLooking for the best Manchester clubs? Go underground, to the basement of a Soup Kitchen
Formerly Soup Kitchen. Now just Soup. Nestled in the corner of Stevenson Square, this place finds the right balance in everything. It’s cool but unpretentious, the food and drink menu is great but also pretty cheap, and the industrial-style basement earnestly nurtures Mancunian talent while also attracting international names.
During the day Soup is a decent place to go to for a Northern Quarter, communal-style lunch. Come evening the ground floor becomes a lively bar, while the basement hosts some truly great music and club nights. As a room, it’s a little bit dingy (I mean, it’s a basement), but it more than comes to life when there are 150 people stuffed inside, all clamouring for a view of the latest hype band.
There’s a lot of competition out there by way of small music venues in Manchester, but soup more than holds its own.
