Adam Kay: This is Going to Hurt at The Lowry, Salford 29 March 2020 Tickets from £27.5 — Book now

Due to the ongoing situation with  COVID-19, this event has been cancelled.  Words Weekend Artistic Director Beth Gallimore’s statement reads:

It is with huge sadness that we have taken the decision to cancel Words Weekend at The Lowry following the escalation of COVID-19 in Europe. Although this is an incredibly difficult decision, the health of authors and audiences must be the priority.

The cancellation of London Book Fair was an early indicator of the impact COVID-19 would have on our industry, and given the fast-changing nature of the situation, we feel we must act quickly and decisively.

All ticket holders will be contacted directly by the venue.

We will be pressing ahead with our plans for Bury St Edmunds in May, our spring 2021 festival at Sage Gateshead, and hope to plan another festival at The Lowry in the future.

Join Adam Kay at Words Weekend as he shares his journey and experiences of life on a hospital ward and discusses his book and career. This is Going to Hurt is the hilarious, at times horrifying and occasionally heart-breaking diary of a former junior doctor-turned-comedian. After working 97-hour weeks, making life or death decisions in a hospital, Adam decided to hang up his stethoscope and share his collection of scribbled diaries. The book was an instant Sunday Times number one bestseller, was awarded Book of the Year 2019 at the National Book Awards and has sold more than a million copies in the UK. This is Going to Hurt has been translated into 33 languages and achieved number-one bestseller status internationally. Join Adam as he returns to The Lowry and makes his Words Weekend debut.
