North Tea Power

Our favourite café du jour is the mighty North Tea Power, with its addictive cakes, serious selection of teas and coffees and excellent playlist. It apparently boasts “Manchester’s first espresso machine tea” but, despite putting a whole lot of emphasis on tea rather than coffee when it first opened, we can happily report it does a good line in the black stuff, too. Food is basic: cakes, breakfasts, toast and sandwiches, but pleasing nonetheless. The decor, meanwhile, is very Northern Quarter: it’s all industrial chic, with recycled tables and school chairs, communal seating, bare bulbs and the gentle hum of half a dozen MacBook Pros taking advantage of the free WiFi.
